I am convinced that research and teaching belong together and create an interesting field of creativity, which in turn supports the progress in research and the art of teaching. The combination of research and teaching also enables researchers and students to reflect current insights from research into teaching and vice versa.
Many computer science students work after graduating in the system development field. Although, not all graduates work as developer, they all need to understand computer and networked systems holistically. Therefore, students should have a solid understanding of various fields of computer science.
My philosophy in teaching is, that students need to understand the relationship between theory and practice, the interaction between hardware and software, and the transfer of current research results into applications. This interdependency of the three topics is depicted in the graphic.
My goal in teaching is to achieve a balance between these fields to prepare students as best as possible for their future in research and industry.
